Capitol Reef

Perhaps it’s because of its remote location in south-central Utah, a considerable two-lane haul from the nearest interstate. Or maybe it’s simply overshadowed by its Beehive State brethren to the east (Canyonlands and Arches) and the west (Bryce Canyon and Zion). But Capitol Reef deserves more love. It’s an archetypal National Park: breathtakingly beautiful and eminently hikeable. Whether you’re a hardcore weekend warrior or a parent with young children, you’ll find multiple trails to your liking. And its isolated location means minimal crowds and maximum serenity.
